HMA Lexington Welcomes You!
Welcome to the University of Kentucky! As you are preparing for your move to Lexington, we would like to introduce you to the Housestaff Medical Alliance (HMA) at UK. HMA is a social and service organization seeking to support the spouses and significant others of UK residents and fellows. HMA provides various activities throughout the year including social events, children’s activities, and community service opportunities.
We plan a wide variety of social activities throughout the year from casual gatherings to holiday parties. Events take place at a variety of places around town to take advantage of all Lexington has to offer. Our members also host social events in their homes. Some of our favorite past events include Bunco Nights, Christmas Cookie Exchange, Pottery Painting, Dessert Night, and Craft Nights.
If you have kids, we have plans for them too! The Children’s Committee plans many fantastic events for all ages. Playgroups at members’ homes, parks, and other locations take place at least twice a month and there are several holiday parties planned as well.
Some of our past Community Service events have included serving meals at the Ronald McDonald House, participating in bake sales, making fleece blankets for the children’s hospital, and walking in charity walks.
Our Members Say
“I really appreciated the member meals service to help with homemade meals after delivery. It was extremely helpful as we had a preemie with extra requirements at the beginning.”
“HMA has been such a blessing. I have met so many genuinely great people through this channel, and I can't imagine life in Lexington without the friendships I've made and the experiences we've shared together.”
“Moving to a new city with little to no network, HMA has provided countless events and many new friendship opportunities within the Lexington medical community. Great resource for spouses to plug in and have a family centered network from day one. Thank you HMA!”
